-- Originally posted: July 9th, 2013 -- I just kind of had this scene of Karma hanging in the air a bit above ferrah, so I had to include it, I know this is dragging out a bit, but bear with me, we’re almost through this. Please get back to me ASAP! Now I’m sure it hasn’t escaped everyone’s notice that updates have been a little erratic. I’m very sorry about this, but right now I’m suffering some pretty severe wrist pain, specifically around my thumb. I believe its tendinitis of some form or another. Unfortunately the pain is causing me some serious difficulty in gripping anything with my thumb without shooting pains or just weakness, which includes my tablet pen. I’m also having to often wear a splint, just to get some relief from the pain, but that obviously prevents me from doing pretty much anything with my right hand. Obviously with this pain, things have gone a little slower than I would like, and updates may continue to be a little erratic for the future depending on how bad this gets and if I have to get some kind of medical treatment for it. Just more a heads up than anything as to why things have been kind of up and down. But I am still trying to get pages done, but can only do so as my body allows. Here’s the usual reminder that we are on facebook, G+, inkoutbreak, Tumblr, Twitter, and even Livejournal if you are going oldschool for your comic updates. I also post updates on Deviantart and Furaffinity. If you want updates, subscribe to one of the above, I try to get them all when I update.. at least most of the time. :P Also, please tell your friends about Shifters if you like it! Word of mouth is the best way to show your love of the comic.

    Haha, a callback already? How long ago was the ‘vampires do not buy train tickets’ chapter published?
    Is that tram pass made of paper? Is there still paper in the future? Actually, is there still paper now? I always use digital magnetic passes for my public transportation.

    Also, thanks for the reminder about the email, it totally slipped my mind!

      The reference was in chapter 1 pg 26, which was posted in July of 2011. And actually Karma made X go and buy the ticket, but they never used it.

      The trampass is made of a ‘smart paper’ substance. It is impregnated with certain polymers that it can be digitally ‘written’ to. It also can’t be torn and doesn’t wrinkle in people’s pockets. The one Karma has is a temporary, one use pass. Permanent passes are plastic cards with tap chips. You can also pay with your phone/smartlink.

      Actually, yes, there is still paper now. In Vancouver, BC, when you buy a one use transfer ticket for the skytrain, it is still made of paper.

        Haha, now I wish I could see X standing in line to buy the ticket, grumbling and glaring at the little old lady paying in small change.

    Careful with that hand thing, I’ve noticed several webcomics get in serious trouble due to hand and wrist issues, just as a partial list, Order of the Stick(got cut), Paradigm Shift(carpel tunnel), and Keychain of Creation(carpel tunnel, on extremely long haitus, hopefully).

    So you should probably get that looked at sooner rather than later, would probably lead to less downtime in the long run.

      I know its pretty serious. I’ve had issue with it before. Unfortunately my day job revolves around me using the computer so its hard to break completely from doing anything with my wrist. I am splinting it at night, and when it is really bugging me. Icing it, taking advil or alieve when necessary. But it does limit the time I can hold the pen, so I’m trying to listen to my body when its had enough and not pushing beyond a point, which is just slowing me down. But then I get it to Che late, and her work schedule is all weird, and it cascades into next week. :/ Even a day late on my part can cause the comic to be pushed several days late.

    Hey Shadowsmyst,

    You should ice too(15 minutes on, 15 minutes off during waking hours, never when asleep). You say you think it is tendonitis(itis is inflammation). Inflammation treatment that works for repetitive injuries is ice, splint(as you are doing), elevate, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen can be extremely helpful. I hope these help with the pain and help prevent the worsening of your stress injury. Though do what feels right to you, I am no doctor(yet).

    I wish I could do more for you and hope your wounds heal soon.

    Hi! Been lurking for a while. Love your work; just take it easy with your hand. Fewer updates and mending are better than more updates then nothing ’cause you hurt yourself! Hope it mends soon!

    Hey, Myst. You should try out this stuff: http://www.sombrausa.com/ I use it for my arthritis and we put it on my husbands back for his herniated disc. It tends to help out a lot.

    Wow, I hope you’re doing okay Che. I know about pain, I’ve been taking hydrocodone for 5 years now, 30mg a day. Bad back and leg pains all the time, pills are the only thing keeping me functioning…. allergic to mj or I’d move to a state that has medicinal mj laws and try it (makes me hurl).
    I hope you find something that helps you, not so you can get back to making this wonderful comic, but because someone with such a gift shouldn’t be in pain.

        Does this mean that the wrist pain is gone? I hate to think that you are suffering for us.

          My wrist is better, most of things was family and friend drama coupled with some event obligations I had made about a year ago I didn’t quite expect to come down on my head like it did. There’s still family drama, but friend stuff is sorting itself out and event stuff is done for now.
