Another Monday, another page!

Karma is pretty ticked. Unfortunately his minions aren’t particularly obedient, at least the girl isn’t. We’ll be seeing their faces eventually here. But I think the page largely speaks for itself. Karma isn’t quite as powerless as his newest minion thinks, his powers are just… subtle.

Don’t forget, if you are in Vancouver, BC this weekend (July 23) is MINICOMI! Mad-Cheshire and I will be there selling our wares. Minicomi is at UBC’s Student Union building and is from 10am-5pm. Come and check it out!

Another wonderfully colored page, on time, woot. That’s now six weeks of updates solid. 🙂 Yes, I’m still counting. XD

Kat knows that the vampires are still hot on her heels and gets herself and Ferrah onto the tramp without Ferrah realizing that anything is wrong. Is she good or what?
Doesn’t stop her from throwing Karma a bit of attitude though.

The Tram system of Shade City is like a super cracked up version of the Skytrain in Vancouver, if you’ve ever seen it. Least that’s what I imagine it to be like.

Don’t forget, if you happen to be in Vancouver, BC round July 23, Minicomi! is going on and both Mad Cheshire and I will be there! Its a free event at UBC, so do stop by! Doors open at 10am. I’ll be selling comics, jewelry, artist cards, commissions, buttons and maybe T-shirts, not sure yet if I can get those done in time. We’ll see! Please come out and show your support!

I will also hopefully be getting a store for Shifters (and other) stuff online soon. There will (hopefully) both downloadable digital content and real physical products. Very exciting times!

Another Monday, another page! Moving closer and closer to the end of the chapter. In this version of the comic, its a little more evident that Ferrah is a bit boycrazy. This aspect of her personality comes from years of having boycrazy female friends. A tribute to women and their mancrush obsessions. Huzzah.

The costume contest is closed and the judges are judging. Stay tuned for the results!

Mysti (Mad-Chesire, our official colorist) and myself are looking to start a Shifters podcast, but we need QUESTIONS for the podcast from you, our wonderful readers. We’ve got a thread in the forums, which we’d ask that you post there so we can keep them all in one place. We need lots of questions about the world, or characters, or stories, or races, etc, so don’t be shy.

Don’t forget we also have a facebook page for notifications of contests and updates, so make sure you ‘like’ it!

Also don’t forget, both Mad Cheshire and Myself will be at Minicomi! It is from 10am -5pm at the University of British Columbia’s Student Union building here in Vancouver, BC, Canada. So if you happen to be in the area, come by and check out our booths! Its FREE to attend! And there will be a free concert around 7pm too.

And another update! Woo!

We’ve been kicking around the idea of a Shifters Podcast, but we’d like some input as to what sort of stuff you guys would like to hear on the podcast. We kinda thought it would be cool to take a shifters related subject or question and talk about it for about half an hour to an hour depending. But if there are other things you guys are interested in hearing about, please post your ideas in the forum.

Another magnificent page, we’re on a roll! Mad Cheshire’s colors are just spiffy as hell aren’t they?

Here we see the introduction of a face which is both old and new. You never saw him in the old comic, but he existed. Just never got a chance to talk about him. Kudos if you figure out who he is. It probably isn’t very hard.

Of course despite the cryptic warning, Ferrah is much more interested in dating the hot guy rather than actually listening to him. She needs to work on her listening skills. *nods*

If any of you all are in the Vancouver area, (don’t worry, its safe now…) Mad Cheshire and myself will be at Minicomi on July 23 at the UBC campus in the student union building. Its totally free to get in, so if you are around, do come and check it out! Also, don’t forget to like Shifters Redux’s fan page on Facebook if you haven’t already for news, updates, and stuff.

The Costume contest is closing soon too, so get your submission up on the message boards! There does seem to be some misunderstanding about what the contest is about. You DON’T have to dress up, you just have to come up with a costume idea for Ferrah and Kat to be dressed up as at the dance. It can just be in writing, or you can draw something. No need to cosplay.. seriously. So go and enter in the forums.

Booyah. Another page for you all. Mad Chesire’s colors look awesome, no? I moved the comic back to the front page. It did look kinda silly just being the blog, since you all come here for the comic, not to hear me yak about whatever. Although hopefully you will find that the blog is interesting too, because I will be using it to talk about Shifters stuff as we move ahead in the plot and I can without major spoilers.

Although on this page, I can tell you that the two movies that Ferrah got for her birthday are based on two RL movies, one actually called “Robovampire” ( no I’m not making it up.), and another called “The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra” Ferrah has a certain taste for B-grade horror flicks. Most of them terrible to the sufferance of her friends. If you are curious, you can view Skeleton on Netfliks I believe. I’m not sure where you can see Robovampire.. but hopping vampires. Enough said.

IT’S HERE. IT’S UPDATED

AND ITS ON FLIPPIN’ TIME!

Shifters Redux is finally begun! In full glorious colour thanks to the wicked skillz of Mad Cheshire. I’m going to keep the blog portion here on the front, unless there is a massive objection (if  you hate it, do leave a comment..), with the update picture to the side. I’d like to update the blog with posts on the Shifters Universe, contests, events, and other things going on like in the RP or in regards to conventions.

Speaking of conventions, I will be at three of them. If you are in and about Vancouver, BC this summer, mark your calendars:

I’m in the process of putting out a Shifters book, and I’m waiting on printer’s quotes right now that I will be selling at the conventions. I’m also going to be selling buttons, jewelry, art prints & cards, and possibly shirts, depending on cash flow. More information closer to the events, and I’ll be posting pictures to prove I’m serious. I haven’t been the most reliable person, and I know I’ve got a lot of trust to rebuild in my audience. I will be working hard to do that.

The Circle is there to help keep me on track, and they’ve been doing a good job, as shown by the launch. They will continue to help keep me motivated, and I hope that you all will help too by leaving comments and participating in the forums.

And here it is, as promised, the first new page of Shifters Redux in GLORIOUS full colour, ON TIME. The colouring provided courtesy of the talented Mad Cheshire ( aka Mysti ) who will be providing coloring services for the forseeable future and possibly more.

This page kinda ties up the little sequence from before, but if you think vampires are going to give up that easy, you’ve got another thing coming. More action ahoy!

Only Three more sleeps – New contest

Only THREE more sleeps until new Shifters pages grace the site!

If you didn’t notice, I added a little count down clock on the side of the site so you could salivate over the remaining days before launch. I’m still planning on the 6th, I’ve got many pages of artwork done, but my colorist’s computer has been in the repair shop for about 4 weeks (honestly, I think she’s going a little bibbly about it) and I’m really hoping she gets it back soon, or you guys are getting black and white pages until she can get around to coloring them.

So I promised another contest around launch, and lo, here it is. :3

In the original comic (and in the Redux) Ferrah and Kat are going to a Halloween party at their school. Now of course, in the original they dressed up, and in this one they are going to dress up too. And therein lies the challenge to you, oh gentle reader.

Ferrah & Kat costume contest

Challenge: Draw or write up a concept for a costume for Ferrah or Kat at the Halloween party. The best costume will be used in the comic, and the contributing fan will get a prize!

The Prize: A cameo appearance in the party scene!

The contest will be judged by a panel of judges, including myself, one of our forum mods, the esteemed and twisted Gorble, and circle members Suicidal Lady, jaina and Lupis.

Entries will be judged on the quality of the entry (how clearly the costume is described or drawn), how creative it is, and how well it fits the personality of the character. It also has to be replicated over many pages, so while it has to be distinctive, it has to be easily redrawn over and over (so don’t go too ballistic on the details). Also, recognizable. Preference would be for more general, non specific to other canon entries.  Example: A generic Gangster would be preferable to a specific historical or fictional gangster.
There will be one prize per character, so it is possible for one person to win both slots or for a total of two winners (one for kat, one for ferrah) depending on the entries received.

While costumes may be somewhat risque, remember this is a HIGH SCHOOL dance. There are levels of decency expected. Make sure all bits are covered properly.

Please post your entries to this thread in the forums. You can link to a DA account, or use photobucket if you want to show images. Contest closes June 30th!
