Okay, here’s the *real* update for you all. Sorry it took so long, technical difficulties and all that jazz. Humans have a crummy sense of smell.

Edit: I know the reward store is having issues regarding downloading the new wallpaper. I’ve informed the plugin maker about the issue, and it should be resolved shortly. I will let you all know when its fixed.

Edit again: okay it should be fixed.

New Kat Wallpaper

Hello all.

Sorry for the delay, Mysti’s power and internet was out most of today, so the coloring didn’t get finished. So here is a bit of filler to keep you entertained while she colors tomorrow. The page should be up on Thursday. If you want to download the wallpaper, there is the lower rez version in the goodies section, but if you want to login, you can download the high rez version from the Rewards store for free.

If you are interested, there is also some nice fiction being posted in the forums by Sterling, you might want to go and have a read.

I also have a quick question to the more-tech-savvy-than-I, if you will indulge me. My main monitor has developed a bit of a strange problem. Its a flatscreen LCD, Viewsonic. It looks like everything is sort of.. well smeared. Its still clear enough but everything looks like the color is being smeared to the right. I can also clearly see a roll going on. Does this mean I need a new monitor? Or is there a way to fix this? I’ve tried new drivers, but that didn’t seem to do anything. I have a secondary display (much smaller) which seems to have no problems, suggesting to me its a hardware issue with the monitor, would the geeks concur? And if so, is it repairable or do I need a new one?

Annnnd here is your bonus page, and the last page of 2011! I think you will agree that 2011 has been a good year for Shifters, and we’ve managed to keep a pretty good schedule going from June! This is in no small part thanks to Mysti, the awesome fantastic amazing colorist who’s been keeping me on my toes and working ahead of schedule. You should go check out her stuff and maybe leave her a tip. She honestly deserves love from all Shifters fans.

Its been an… interesting year. Stressful, crazy, and the next year promises to be just as amazing, and crazy although I hope to kind of limit the stress. I’ve got a few “new years resolutions’, one of which is to do yoga at least three times a week, but, for resolutions you might care about, is getting the first chapter recolored/relettered/touched up and printed for the convention season, which for me looks like it will start in March possibly. Mysti and I have got a tentative spot at Vancoufur atm, and will be at the Vancouver Comic Festival for sure. I’m going to apply again for Cos & Effect, Minicomi and I’m already booked for Vcon.  Also on my list is getting the store on EvilSpaceCat.com up to date with all the nifty stuff I’ve got, prints, comics, buttons, zipperpulls, etc, so if you can’t make it to a convention, you can still get something, although I may have to find some more tech savvy people than me to get that one done. I also want to get the new coin system running on here, ( I got it sitting waiting to be installed) So I can reward people who comment with nifty icons. Its also got some other nice features too I will hopefully be taking advantage of. I know this is also a year where I’m going to have to get my ass into gear for new art. Although I’ve already signed a contract to teach again, I’m hoping that being on a different day it will be a little easier to manage than in the fall. I think all my RL friends are going to get annoyed since I’m going to be reclusive trying to get all this artwork done. XD

Anyway, here’s hoping your new years is awesome, and all the best to each and every one of you awesome people in 2012.

Yeah, so it was Ben who used his spirit wake to clock the vampire hard enough that his natural regeneration wouldn’t be able to compensate immediately, pretty much broke his face right up. But its healing pretty quick, so Ben has to act quickly. TO THE BATHROOM! Because its the natural place for an interrogation. Ayup. The second page will be coming on Friday.

Betcha you didn’t see that coming from a butterfly. And the full extent of this Dream god’s power is still yet to be seen. Yes, Butterfly is a dream god.What is a dream god you may ask? well its a good question, which is actually answered in the forums if you care to dig, but otherwise you’ll have to wait for an explanation a bit later for the specifics, but Dream gods are the source of power for the Shifters. All Shifters have a connection one that allows for them to shift into a shape in that Gods’ portfolio, but some, like Ben, have the ability to form pacts with more than one. These Shifters are known as Shaman, and because their magic can directly affect vampires, they are pretty highly valued and sought after for the side of order.

If you’ve been reading for a long time, you probably know some of the stuff that happened for “The Beast Within”, and be at least a little familiar with a few of the Dream Gods, but there will be much more of them shown in this version, a stronger connection of them with the Shifters and how they figure into things.

Also, punch to the face. Betcha didn’t expect that either. Ben punches hard.

So back to Ben… (had you forgotten?) We also finally learn the last name of the last vampire, who may not really be around that much longer, and I get to show Ben’s nifty shaman powers. XD This was one of those things I revised, as I felt the fetish he used to use (the weird sticky thing if you remember) looked kinda.. well not very cool. The tattoos on the other hand, much cooler.. and makes more sense in the scope of things since Shaman are channeling the dream gods’ power and the tattoos are a manifestation of the pact between the shaman and a dream god. So when the shaman is actively drawing on their power they come to life in a way. It also serves as a very good reference as to if they have the favor of the god or not, because if they don’t, the tattoo would vanish. So, any guesses as to how many tattoos Ben has?

In site news, we made enough donations last month for an extra page in December! It will occur as a double update in the last week of the month. So look forward to it. ^^I’m hoping to get a little time before or after xmas to do a little work on the site, spiff it up for the new year, so if things go a little wonky, just know its me mucking with the site design, hopefully making it better over all.

Oh Ferrah, you and your love of gore and horror! You see, the part you don’t know is that last year, when she used the cheap makeup on Alice her skin was stained pink for days and days afterwards, to say nothing of the itching rash. Sure the rash might have only lasted a night, but oh gods, the itching. Hence, her rather violent reaction. The eye patch, as gory as it is, is better than itching and a stained face. Ferrah is, of course, pleased either way.

Well we’ve finally gotten to the point with the costumes, so its obvious now who won. Congrats to Lunaticked! His cameo is coming up soon, as well as another special cameo spot to a certain group of awesome people.

If you are wondering why I didn’t announce it until now, I wanted to keep what they would be dressed up as a secret as long as possible.

Ferrah made the costumes herself, found an old set of scrubs and painted them up. Although I couldn’t resist making it at least a little sexy on Kat, considering last time she was in a slinky catwoman outfit.

Still taking suggestions for stuff to be in the rewards store. If you have stuff you want to see, please tell me! Also suggestions on how to make it work better for you guys as users so I can pass it along to the developer. As it was pointed out it is important to note that the link that is generate is DIFFERENT for each page. So you can send people to specific pages (like latest updates, best parts, favorite scenes) directly by copying the “personal link” on that page.

New Shifters page is up. Hear no evil, seen no evil.. but the bear can smell it. Did you know that bears have a ridiculously good sense of smell? Seriously, look it up. He’s in human form right now, so its not QUITE that insane, but he does enjoy certain more keen senses.

So last week, I mentioned about the new reward program, Coins, on the site. I was very sad that not one besides myself and mysti gave it a whirl. Come on guys! I need a little more volume of user participation to help beta test this puppy! NEED FEEDBACK. It doesn’t cost you anything, and you can earn free stuff! What’s not to love?

I’m not asking you to go out of your way, especially if you’ve already registered with the site. Just login, grab your personal URL and paste that puppy somewhere. Facebook, Tumblr, twitter, forums, somewhere. I know there isn’t a lot on the site yet to buy with coins, but there’s more coming. If you TELL ME what you want to see, I can work on making it happen! But I need people to talk to me. Nothing sucks more than working in a vacuum.
