Setting up the dominos… ticking down the pages. Its a very odd sort of countdown, but I do feel there is some anticipation building here at this point. 🙂

So here’s your regular update for the week. A reminder that the regular update is Wed now, because there has been some confusion. Bonus pages will come on Fridays, when bonus pages occur.

Speaking of bonus pages, there was supposed to be one this week but because of con prep hell, we just didn’t have the time to finish the second page, so the bonus updates will occur next week and the week after next. There’s still two in the hopper in addition to the one last week.

Bonus page! one of three, although it might end up being a little spaced out because of Vancoufur. Ferrah is strong minded, but she’s still affected by vampiric power at this point. I mean, she’s only human. A bit of a weird human, but still human.

So, in the Shifters Universe, there’s two kinds of vampires. You’ve only seen the one type, which is the kind Karma and crew are. Those who are familiar with the mythos know they are called New Generation Vampires (New Gens for short), or ‘type-Bs’. New Gens are pretty easily distinguished from the “Old Gens” physically by their red eyes, and their wide set, somewhat beast-like fangs.

In the Shifters universe, not all vampires have the same powers, particularly New Gens. While their are ‘common’ powers, in that, many if not most new gens have them, there are some vampires that have peculiar power sets. These unfortunate (or fortunate) vampires often lack powers that are common, such as the ‘mez’ ability that X possesses. She’s particularly good at it though, its kind of like being a specialist, although she does have other abilities. Karma however, is a special case. His ability isn’t quite as strait forward as X’s. Fortunately he’s quite good with his ability, even if X doesn’t understand what he’s up to.

Ferrah is unfortunately on the receiving end of of a vampire hypnosis attack, but the question of course is will it work?

Assuming things go well, there will be another page on Friday. Things are heating up!

Ferrah has a rather low opinion of vampires. And I just couldn’t resist. Really. Its kind of self deprecating humor, but hey, I’m Canadian.

In other news, due to some generous folk, there will be three(3) new additional pages coming up, so you should see double updates for the next few weeks. I’ve actually taken a bit of time off work to get them drawn. So we’ll start the double updates next week. *fingers crossed* Also, Sterling has posted another chapter of his story, and a bonus story that he promised as well.

Both Mysti and Myself will be at Vancoufur this coming March 9-12! If you happen to be in Vancouver and interested, I will be doing a panel on photoshop and webcomics. Come and check it out. 🙂

Oh Ferrah, you don’t understand “personal space” do you?

Put a couple of songs up in the store for free download, still working on making thumbnails for New Moon and Tainted. I’ll get those up soon, keep an eye out for them. There has also been more story posted from Sterling.

Chapter 2 Pg 21

I really had to resist the urge to put “le gasp” instead of just ‘gasp’ in the end panel. I should probably brush up on my expressions so sound effects are unneeded.

You may of course speculate as to why Ferrah is gasping.

We have two more Cameos in this one, the first is our winner of the costume contest, Lunaticked! Serving punch! I forgot to ask what to costume you in, please don’t hate me. XD Second we have Stephen Hague of Cyrios, who was the mummy leg in the last picture.

Plot is going to move swiftly from here. I just have to figure out how to cram everything we need to into 11 pages or less. But oh, dear gods, the plans… I can only hope I can do it artistic justice to the vision in my head.

Just to point out a few threads in the forums, Mysti, the beloved colorist and a DAMN FINE artist in her own right is offering commissions. Very reasonable prices! There’s also a lot of discussion going on, random Shifters questions being answered and of course more story from Sterling!

Chapter 2 Pg 20

Sorry it was late but drawing that crowd scene and the whole gym thing-you-can-hardly-see, was brutal. Plus the perspective on the band was a tough nut to crack. The band performing is a cameo of a real band, named Cyrios. David Hitchcock, one of the members of the band composed and recorded the Shifters theme song “New Moon” and the Vampire theme ‘tainted. You can listen to them both here. I keep meaning to ask David if I could offer New Moon as a digital download, but I keep forgetting. Hey Dave, can I? XD Email me and we can talk.
If we compare and contrast with the original Shifters, we are about here. I know, I know, its going a bit slower, but I’m laying foundations here. You have to admit, ya’ll know a hell of a lot more about the world and the characters and such now than you did at that same point in the old version.

The forum RP has seen a bit of a revival as of late, thanks to Bubbanator505’s persistance. Kudos to you dude. If you are interested, you can check out the threads here. Note that this site is NOT integrated with the forums. If you want to post on the forums, you’ll need to register there separately. Admin approval is there to avoid spamination, but I try to be quick about getting accounts approved. There’s also some additional Shifters related discussion taking place as well as more of Sterling’s writings.

I’m probably forgetting something I was going to say but its 1am and I need to sleep now. 😛

A new character appears! Well sort of. Another teacher, this time the pink haired ‘Miss Penny”. She’s keeping watch on the door to make sure no one is sneaking in… or out as they please. How did the vampires get past her? Well its a good question, ponder if you will.

Yes, for those of you who remembered and guessed it was Holly Tate, congrats! You were absolutely right. She’s back, twice as bitchy as ever. In the original the antagonistic school prat was a girl named Serena, but it makes more sense (and shaves off some unneeded fat storywise) to have Holly as the antagonistic prissy bitch. She’s rich, her family is influential, and you probably didn’t know that the school that they all attend is one that’s generally for the more socially upwardly mobile kids. Not quite like private tutors, but it’s still pretty expensive. Ferrah used to live in the Undercity, until her mom got promoted at the corp she works at.  Which is why Holly picks on her. Her family is also pretty poor comparatively, Ferrah actually working after school to help with the cashflow for things she wants. You’ll see Ferrah’s work place later.

Annnd we have another character from the old comic (actually technically, three old characters with a bit of a facelift). And I’m sure you alllll know who this redhaired bitch is (if you knew the old comic.)
