Chapter 3 Pg 1

So, just so no one get confused, we’ve actually backtracked JUST a little in time to experience What was going on in Ferrah’s head while she was all under X’s hypnosis. I promise it won’t take too long, but I also promise it’s important. Especially for people who want to know more about how Shifters awaken. So pay attention.

We’re going to start the bonus updates next week, trying to get a lot of things done at the same time here. The Vancouver Comic Arts Festival is rapidly approaching for May 26-27 in downtown Vancouver, BC, and I’m going to be there with a table. So if you do happen to be planning to be in Vancouver on that weekend, do come and stop by.

I’m still working on the ideal contest for the selection of circle members. I don’t want it to be skill based (like say for fan art or fan writing per se), but I do want there to be some challenge involved. Last time I had people write about when they found shifters and why they were a hardcore fan and what they brought to the table in the Circle. I’d like to do something a little more current now, since a lot of people here I’m sure are reasonably new. I’m working on it anyway, haven’t forgotten, still hammering out details.

Chapter 3 Nightmare

And here we go.
Kind of an artsy cover for this one. Something I learned to do in my day job. XD

So, last year around this time we had put together the first Circle. The Circle is a special group of dedicated fans who help me out in various ways, and in return get some exclusive previews and livestreams and various other tidbits.

Since last year we’ve come up with 6 vacancies which we are going to have to fill. Like last year, we’re going to have a competition for people who want to be a part of the Circle, and take one of the vacant seats. If you are interested, I’d suggest registering for the forums, because you’ll probably need to make a post. ^^ I’ll be posting details next week.

Also, David Hitchcock, part of Cyrios, the band that did the Shifters Theme song, would like your opinion! I said I’d help him out and post it here as he wants to pick your brains a little about music/concert stuff. If you would be so inclined to answer his questions, that would be great. 🙂

Chapter 2 Pg 33

And so you have it folks, the end of issue 2! And, yes, I know I’m evil for leaving it here.

BUT the fact that we’ve made it beyond chapter 2 is amazing! Now, onward to chapter 3 and uncharted territory.. well sort of anyway.

So here’s what’s going to happen here between chapters. We’re going to take a one week break from comic, although we’ve got some fun filler/trivia stuff we’ll be posting next week instead of a comic, but we’ll be back the week after. You guys have been SO amazing that we now have FIVE bonus pages in the hopper. As per how the bonus pages work, we’ll be working to get those bonus pages in the works for May. Although because of of a con in may (Vancouver Comic Festival May 26-27, which I will be exhibiting at…) we may not get the full 5, so it may spill over to June, but there will be at least a full month of two updates a week. We’ve been trying to stick to the Wed/Fri schedule, so that’s what’s planned for now.

But for now, I want to thank each and every one of you for hanging around and supporting  Shifters, even if you do so silently in the shadows of lurkdom or loud and proud in the comments or forums.

Happy Good Friday everyone.

This would be the final bonus page in the hopper. There was virtually no donations for March so if you want more, a reminder that for every 50$ in donations we get nets a bonus page. I am working on getting a better donation meter working that will replace the lame static graphic, so you guys will be able to see what’s been donated, and get a few goodies for donating aside from the bonus pages obviously.

Also, it seems I lied. I will do one more page after this in the chapter to kind of transition this chapter to the next one, otherwise it feels.. off. I didn’t intend it to be like this, but sometimes art happens as it happens, and it doesn’t always match the writing.

Mysti did a really spiffy job on that energy vortex/explosion, I have to say. :3 If you are curious as to why the fireworks, try to remember back when Kat shifted in the first chapter. 😉

Chapter 2 Page 31

And so, it begins.

Interesting factoid, in the Shifters universe, vampires are NOT undead. They are never at any point dead. They are infected. They carry a virus that changes them and others into vampires. The almost universal first symptom of being infected by the LTV B variant virus is barfing up whatever happens to be in your stomach. Blood to blood contact is much swifter than going with saliva alone, so that’s why Karma bit his tongue.

Also, the transformation is neither pleasant nor painless, as you can see. That part is not unique to Ferrah. She’s experiencing all the turning suck anyone else would. The claws are a little off though….

Chapter 2 Pg 28

The tension, she keeps building! Also, Karma is a pervert.

So this is page 28 of 32, and there are still 2 bonus pages in the hopper, we just haven’t quite been able to finish them in time yet to post them (Vancoufur and then Mysti had a planned engagement for this week), so hopefully you’ll see them next week and it will get us to the END OF THE CHAPTER. OMG OMG. XD Yes, I know its been a little slower this time around, but trust me, I’ve actually foreshadowed SO MUCH MORE of the plot than I ever did before. Probably helps I know more of what I’m doing this time around, but there won’t be five meandering chapters before we get to the point. I’m weaving plot with world and character building this time so they happen together. After the end of this chapter, and Ferrah’s big bang, there will be a pretty significant divergence from the old story. Mostly because we are actually going to be focusing on the main plot, which we never really got to in the old story. So it will be new, but old, but new in a sense… if that makes any.

So advance warning. After the chapter, there will be a short break between chapters. Che and I want to build a bit of buffer going into the next chapter since we’ve got at least THREE conventions over the summer (VanCAF, Cos & Effect, and Vcon) and we don’t want to miss any updates. We’ll try to throw up some splash art, caption contest, etc. If you have a request for break filler, do post a comment!

In a totally unrelated note, I’ve been doing a bit of a stint on the Webcomic Beacon Newscast. Reading and discussing comic news. If you want to hear my sexy voice over there (hah hah), feel free to check it out. I’ll be on again this week as well.

I would probably have something witty to say if I wasn’t still feeling like ass. I picked up some Con crud it seems, been a little zonked. But Vancoufur was otherwise a lot of fun, disease non-withstanding.
