CosEffect Filler

Yeahhhh, sorry guys, between some work fail and convention prep, the comic won’t be updating this week, but I did do a nifty little sketch of Che and I. Really, Che is short like that. In case you didn’t know (which most of you probably don’t, and wont even after this post) I do all my con stuff under my business name which is “Evil Space Cat Productions“. There’s many reasons for this, but lets just say it just streamlines things because I don’t do a single comic and I make and sell other stuff besides just regular art.

So we’ll be at Cos & Effect this weekend, which is an amazing con, and we’ve got a nice corner table there. We’ll be selling buttons, prints, keychains, zipperpulls, jewelry (necklaces & bracelets), ears, t-shirts, comics, bookmarks, and fans. I’m hopefully going to get all this stuff up into the store, and make it more publicly visible on this site.

FOR FUN STUFF TO DO IN THE MEANWHILE…

Well, maybe not fun, but stuff. First thing, PLEASE ANSWER THE POLL TO THE RIGHT OF THIS POST IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY.

Some people have been apparently missing the fact there is a poll there. The more people who answer it the more I know where to put my efforts as far as creation goes.

Second thing is, I would like some feedback on your poll answers, PARTICULARLY if you answered T-shirt, artbook or roleplaying book.

FOR T-SHIRT ANSWERS:

Please state what kind of shirts you like to buy. Stuff with witty sayings? cool art? Character art? Logos? General themed art (like say werewolf is a general subject). Would you want shifters specific stuff? Or more generic. Would you like to see a t-shirt vote thing like threadless? where you could vote on several different designs and then preorder the winner? Or would you just prefer they be up for sale somewhere? There is also a thread in the forums if you prefer to give your feedback there.

FOR THE ARTBOOK ANSWERS:

Honestly, I’ve never made an artbook. What would you want to see in an artbook? Sketches? Finished art? How to draws for different characters? Profiles? World information? What’s important to you in this sort of book? Any preference on poses? do you just want to see drawings or do you want the author to blab?

FOR THE ROLEPLAYING BOOK:

What system would you want to see the book for? Its own, unique system? Or something more generic like 3.5 or GURPS?

FOR EVERYONE THAT ANSWERED THEY WANT THE GRAPHIC NOVEL:

What kind of extras do you want to see in a GN? Most standard manga ones don’t have much, maybe an author’s note, some omake strips, maybe some character profiles and title break pages. Is there something you want to see more of? What makes the book more worth buying? Extra story pages? Omake? Drawings? Character profiles? How would you expect this to differ from the artbook? I want to know what extras YOU find valuble in a comic graphic novel.

 

I really really appreciate patience with me for the con stuff and thanks in advance for all your feedback. (assuming you actually read the post. I know, it was long. )

And that’s the end of Mack. Yes, that’s ferrah’s paw around his head.

A few words. Firstly, again, the bonus pages are going to have to be delayed because of schedule. The schedule issue being that Cos & Effect is less than 2 weeks away now ( Aug 24-26 at UBC, Vancouver BC) and I’ve got some prep that needs doing. Regular update will happen as usual, but we can’t do the bonus stuff yet.

Once Mysti’s schedule and mine sync up a bit better, hopefully we can get them done, but right now her schedule is still erratic and I’m swamped with con prep. So sorry about that, but they will happen! Looking more towards September at the moment though.

A little hint of things to come on this page. Who is the mysterious Duchess? Why does she want the necklace so badly? X is quite right to be shitting her pants right about now. She’s got some good instincts that one. Next page, we’ll see what Mack is screaming about.

You can probably guess its not particularly good for him. We’re almost 2/3s through the issue! Most ‘chapters’ in shifters are around 30-32 pages. Page 19, we’re chugging away here.

We’re still working on schedule, trying to get ahead, but we have to work around Che/Mysti’s shifting work schedule, please be patient if updates are erratic. We are trying very hard to get ahead for regular updates and the bonus pages owed out. Unfortunately combat scenes are a little more challenging, and therefore take a bit longer to draw.

You may have noticed the poll on the right side of the page. If you haven’t made some selections, please do. The graphic novel was a bit of a no-brainer, but I have to say I was a little surprised with the T-shirts coming up so high. Is there anything in particular you guys want on shirts? Toss some suggestions at me in the comments section below!

Sorry about the long wait for this page. I did post a message in the forums regarding this, but apparently not many people are reading it. IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT A LATE PAGE, please make sure you read in the forums to see WHY its late.I always post if a page is going to be late in the FORUMS. But for those of you who haven’t bothered going to the forums, here’s the scoop.

Mysti/Che, our esteemed colorist, has suddenly and rather unexpectedly gotten a day job. This is great news for her, but it means that suddenly our schedule that we had worked out to deliver the pages on time has gotten a bit of a wedge shoved in it. We are trying to work ahead to get the regular pages and bonus pages done but then I was sick with the flu and Che got a nasty round of some kind of summer cold. Her schedule at work is not set yet, and thus we are still flailing a bit to figure out when she can color things, so when I have to deliver the pages by. Please have patience while we work out the new schedule. Just be aware pages might be a little irregular until we’ve got something hammered out.

Also, our next big convention is coming up, one of the larger ones of the season and a super blast, Cos & Effect! If you are going to be in or around Vancouver, BC for August 24-26 and like cosplay/anime/alternative fashion, this is THE show you shouldn’t miss. Its a blast and it promises to be bigger and better this year. If you haven’t got your tickets, get them now! Go! And come visit the Evil Space Cat booth while you are there!

And finally Alice puts her big girl panties on in the form of.. a fur coat? I dunno. I’m too tired to be funny. And yes yes, we’ll see Ferrah kicking ass in a minute, need to round up some peeps for reactions.

J-fest was last weekend. Kind of eh as far as sales. It seems everyone is waiting for the bigger cons later this summer to get their spending on, which makes the smaller cons somewhat less profitable. I covered the table and gas it took to get there, but sadly, little else. I really REALLY need to get a lot of my merch online. Well, at least I think I do. Does anyone here care about it? Usually we sell a variety of items fromT-shirts to  jewelry, from prints to buttons, and from to original art cards to bookmarks. I also sell comics, but I’ve only got one issue of Brymstone at the moment. You guys will know when a Shifters book is ready, because I’d probably want to open pre-orders. Comments? Is there anything you’d like to buy?

Here’s your Wed update. Yes. Big Ferrah is big. There’s a side shot there so you can see a rough comparison of size. Also, its kind of a bitch to try to figure out an English equivalent of wolf angry noises. “Bark” sounds too much like a yappy dog. I did my best after listening to some wolf growl/barks. Honestly, this is when I long for animation with, you know, sound.

A few news items. Che and I will be at Jfest this weekend in New Westminster, BC. This is a one day event happening on July 14th from 10-5pm. Admission is $10. There’s a whole bunch going on, (basically its like.. a mini con) SO if you are in the area, come check us out. Secondly, about the bonus update. I know I promised it for this week, buuut I’m going to have to push it back to next week because of J-fest. I really REALLY want to finish the super awesome redo of the old Bloodbath wallpaper for Jfest, but I won’t be able to do it and the bonus update as well most likely. Che also has prep to do. So I’m going to push it to next week and the week after for the scheduled bonus updates. I don’t want to half ass a page because I’m in a rush. Third thing is my good buddy Jakkal, has officially begun her reboot of Black Tapestries. If you were/are a fan, you might want to go bookmark the site for updates.

Ferrah is very big. Somehow I don’t think she’ll be placated with pleasantries while her friend is being held hostage. On the other hand, I’m not sure she can tell friend from foe right now.

Because of the late update this week, we will post the bonus update next week, and the week following. Aaaand we’re back. This still doesn’t quite reflect her correct size, since Kat’s still standing a distance away.

As was requested, we have made a wallpaper out of the last panel on the last page, called Genesis, and it is available for download from the Goodies & Rewards section of the site. Its free, so all you have to do is log in to the site, and it will be right near the top on the goodies page. I double checked, it works.I know its been kind of flakey, but I’ve got it running now on a stable-ish version of the plugin.

If you aren’t a member of the site yet, its an excellent time to sign up.

I’ve done a little re-arranging of the menu for the site. I’ve created a section called “Media” for all the various different stuff we are doing for Shifters. Podcast, livestream, art gallery, its all under that menu now.

Yeah, we’re almost back to the real world, although really, Ferrah’s nightmare is just beginning.

A question I have for everyone and anyone who cares to answer, or at least those who attend conventions. Which convention would you like to see Shifters at? I have to plan these things in advance, and with some with competitive artists alleys, sometimes it takes more than one try (not to mention getting paperwork in order…). So I’m trying to figure out if there are any outside of Vancouver (which are the only one’s I’ve been doing right now), that people would like to see Shifters at.

We’re out of bonus pages for this month, but we’ve got one so far slated for July. If you want to see more bonus pages, consider contributing. Even 5$ gets everyone that much closer to more Shifters!

This should be all very familiar to those who were paying attention to earlier pages. You know, asking questions such as “what is she reaching out for?”.

This is the last bonus page for June. There’s been one bonus page so far for July slated. Remember, we schedule a month in advance, so if you want to see more bonus pages for July, you’ll need to donate in June. Hope you’ve all been enjoying the bonus pages, it has made things go along faster.
